Details
Built by accomplished boat builder Gary Mendham in Coffs in 2003, she is one of a kind. This Racer/Cruiser Trailer Sailer was built as a fast cruiser that could comfortably sleep a family and cruise, but would keep up with modern trailerables. She is 8m and 2.5m wide - as big as possible but still legal and easy to trailer. She has been compared to an Elliot 7.80, but the original alloy mast has been replaced with a masthead carbon rig for more power, and she is a faster boat.
She competed under the name "Destiny" in her inaugral Bay to Bay 2007, and won it! She has done well in big river sailing, club bridge to bridges, moreton bay classic, etc. She is a fast boat, and beautifully appointed down below. Much thought has gone into her deck layout, and she is easily sailed solo in cruising mode, or 4 up in racing mode. She features a new fast C-Tech carbon rig with swept back spreaders, square top carbon main, No. 1 & 2 jibs. She flies a mast head asso and a code zero off a 1.5m carbon bow pole. She also flies fractional symmetric spinnakers.
This boat has been immaculately maintained and is ready to race. She's a regular club racer out of SYC Hollywell Sailing Squadron. She comes as a package deal, together with her double axle trailer and a near new braked seapen where she is homed now at Runaway Bay Marina. Viewing by appointment only. The price is firm, and includes the trailer and seapen.
