Pathfinder Pilothouse 17.4 |
Australian designed and built late model Power cat.
The philosophy behind the Pathfinder Pilothouse 17.4 was that the systems had to be robust and easy to maintain without getting unnecessarily complicated and with a backup if possible. This is a boat that is intended to go to sea and stay there for long periods of time, so the systems had to reflect this.
The Extra large rear deck whilst at rest has plenty of room for entertaining 10+ guests, Stepping through the large Bi fold doors into the Saloon on the starboard side and aft Galley on the port side with servery to the rear deck.
Forward of galley you step up to the pilot house where you the Captain can be accompanied by ALL your guests in the comfort of L shaped lounges and a second helm chair while cruising, there is also a navigation table starboard forward.
Stepping down from the pilot house forward are 2 Queen Cabins with shared ensuite between the cabins. The two guest cabins are Port mid ship double bunk cabin plus double and single cabin to starboard side.
A number of different engine options were considered, but Peter Brady decided to stay with the mechanically injected 440hp Yanmar 6LY3-STP’s that have been used in his previous custom builds.
Reasons for choosing this engine;
• Highest power to weight ratio in their class
• Very narrow which suits a catamaran hull
• They are a pure marine engine
• Equipment such as oil filters are positioned on top to make them easier to service.
• They have Mechanical injection which is more forgiving to fuel quality which can be a problem when cruising to more remote places.
• These engines are electronically controlled for higher torque and a cleaner fuel burn and this allows the engine’s operating data such as temperature, pressure and fuel consumption to be displayed on an LCD screen.
• Both the engines and gearboxes are from Yanmar, warranty and matching the correct type is less of an issue and in this installation, the gearboxes are 2.47:1 with an 8° down angle.
Delivering the power to the water efficiently is critical in getting both the maximum performance and economy from the displaning hull form; Peter Brady again worked with David O’Shea of Speed Propulsion and Faster Propellers to get the right propellers.
The Vessel has the CZone system and display for monitoring all componentry and equipment on the boat. This is also interfaced with the Simrad navigation system to pop up on the main screens if any pump turns on, or if an alarm goes off.
The vessel has been set up for extended cruising/ exploring and has plenty of room for dry stores and refrigeration to complete many months at sea. The boat has an extensive specifications sheet, please call for more information
